First responders are routinely exposed to traumatic events in the course of their duties. As such, they are at an increased risk for long-term effects of traumatic stress. In this 8-hour workshop participants will learn the science behind traumatic stress and its affect on the body, as well as be exposed to yoga and iRest meditation, a form of guided meditation used to help cope with daily stress, resolve trauma, decrease anxiety and depression, relieve chronic pain, and improve sleep. They will walk away with an understanding of how to use these principles in their daily lives.
This 8-hour workshop deepens into the practice of the 4-hour resiliency workshop and includes professional iRest recordings that can be used by participants.
Cost: $1200 for up to 15 participants
Workshop can be held at place of business or at Waimea Yoga
About Chelsea:
With a background in education, human physiology, yoga and meditation I have a range of experience that has given me a unique approach to health and wellness. Over the last 5 years I have worked with children ages 4-18, Ho’onani Senior Living Center, veterans with PTSD across Hawaii island, pre-medical students during their internships and have lead 2 yoga teacher trainings, the first of which I partnered with a local non-profit, the LightOn foundation training women who have experienced trauma related to sexual or domestic abuse. Through all of these experiences, I have gained incredible insight into the power of yoga and meditation to heal old wounds, decrease stress, and to build resiliency. Through my studio Waimea Yoga and the partnerships I have created I hope to bring these invaluable tools to the school setting, both for teachers and their students.
