Aleks danced professionally with the Joffrey Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and West Side Story Broadway. She holds a Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Certification from Core Chicago Pilates and two 200hr Yoga Teacher Certifications from Pure Yoga NYC (Vinyasa) and the Bhakti Center NYC (Hatha Yoga). Aleks has been teaching Pilates and Yoga for over six years. Her particular interests are improving postural patterns, biomechanics, and integration of all eight limbs of the yogic system.
Aleks studied Evolutionary Biology of the Human Species and Religious Studies as an undergraduate student at Columbia University in New York City. The specific focus of her Evolutionary Biology degree was the evolution and adaptations of the human muscular and skeletal system as they relate to modern day movement patterns and posture. She focused on North Indian Bhakti Yoga during her religion degree and intensely studied yoga philosophy in addition to her daily physical yoga asana practice.
Nowadays Aleks lives in Waimea and teaches dance, yoga, and Pilates. She loves hiking, reading, swimming in the ocean, health and wellness, and pushing her body to new physical limits.
