SUMMARY:Movement Lab w/Julie Martin
DESCRIPTION:It’s time for another Movement Lab workshop with Julie Martin! Saturday\, February 20th of Feb 4-6pm. \nThe theme for this months exploration is Strong Back Open Front. \nIn a world where sitting is often a predominant shape for many\, we tend to lose stability and strength in the back of the body. In turn\, this also limits the movement and freedom we can find in the front. During this class\, we will discover what support really feels like through the back and examine what supports us beyond the mat. Taking movement in stages to build up our awareness and then layering a sequence to throw in some backbends as well. \nThis workshop is In-Studio only with limited numbers to 10. Please sign up in advance\, all levels are welcome!

SUMMARY:Introduction to Heart Rhythm and Meditation
DESCRIPTION:A 6-week series with Christopher Neithamer • Starts Wednesday January 20\, 2021 • 5:30pm-7:00pm \nWant to find a way to connect to your center\, the core of who you are\, no matter what is going on in the world around you? \nDo you want to find a way to consistently calm\, nourish and center yourself? \nJoin us for a 6-week Introduction To Heart Rhythm Meditation series with Christopher Neithamer! \nParticipants in this course will learn science-based breathing practices that result in a slower heartbeat\, a calmer mind\, and a greater ability to regulate emotion. They will experience the power and calm of breathing with their own heartbeat. Each week of this six part series another dimension of the basic Heart Rhythm Meditation practice will be taught. Focusing on creating an even\, full rhythmic breath entrained with the heartbeat\, will lead to a deeply transpersonal and transformative experience of oneself and others while staying within one’s own body. Unlike some other common forms of meditation\, in Heart Rhythm meditation we encourage an embodied practice so there is no disconnect from our body\, heart\, mind and spirit. Concrete tools will equip participants with the ability to start an at-home meditation practice to help them live a fulfilling life. \nSuitable for newbie or experienced meditators. \n$155 if paid in full by Dec 31 • $175 Thereafter \nTo find out more about this class or to have a free 10 minute consultation\, please email c.j.neithamer@gmail.com \nMore info on the practice & history of Heart Rhythm Meditation can be found at www.iamheart.org \nMore info on the facilitator can be found at www.christopherneithamer.com \n

SUMMARY:Calabash of Your Heart
DESCRIPTION:Our heart space is the esoteric place that we keep our stories of love and heartbreak\, connection and loneliness\, along with expansion\, hope\, and peace. Like a calabash made of exotic hardwood\, carved to span beyond one lifetime\, it is an exquisite in its beauty and flawless in itś imperfections. The size of our heart space naturally fluctuates at different times of our lives\, but it is our responsibility to rejuvenate the love that fills it up. Our service in this world comes from the practices\, that not only fill the calabash of our heart\, but spill over the beautiful rim to be a part of the upliftment of all humanity.\n\nPlease join the Waimea Yoga Community and Nancy Candea on October 4th for a 1.5 hour yoga event. 50% of the proceeds with go to Yoga Impact\, a non-profit whose focus is to bring the healing aspects of yoga to all communities.

SUMMARY:Sacred Sound Healing Bath
DESCRIPTION:In the early 2000s\, Paula’s love for yoga prompted her to complete a 200-hour yoga teacher training program in Arizona. Shortly after that\, she was introduced to Yoga Nidra Meditation\, along with a sound healing gong bath that had a profound impact on her. She attended weekly events with a Kundalini gong master\, learning to release and renew through vibrational healing\, and was introduced to Crystal Tones Singing Bowls\, deeply resonating with the transformational tones of the bowls. She attended a national Globe Institute Sound Healing Conference in San Francisco and knew then that it was her calling to share this work with others. Paula immersed herself in the study of sound and vibrational healing to prepare for the life-changing journey ahead. She met with the founder of Crystal Tones\, and together they created a collection of crystal bowls that magically offer love and peace through the sacred sounds of alchemy. She facilitated Yoga Nidra meditations at studios in Monterey\, California\, and collaborated with other sound healers\, gong masters and yoga instructors to create beautiful healing experiences\, combining yoga and sacred sounds together. \nFollowing her intuition\, Paula returned to the Big Island\, where she had learned to love the aloha lifestyle in the ‘80s. With deep reverence for Hawaii\, she decided to share her excitement about sound healing with others by offering private sessions\, partnering with local yoga instructors\, and providing yoga and sacred sound healing events to the community. During a sound bath\, listeners typically experience a sense of connectedness and peace\, as the sacred sounds clear blockages and restore the free flow of vital energy throughout the body. Soundimmersions offer listeners access to parts of the mind that are typically closed\, resulting in a sense of expanded awareness and higher consciousness. It is Paula’s passion to hold space for others and to offer them an opportunity to find relief from traumas\, such as anxiety\, insomnia\, PTSD and depression\, through transformational healing tones. She is committed to providing a safe environment for people to rest\, restore\, find inner peace and rejuvenate the mind\, body and spirit\, bathed in the gentle sustained waves of primordial sound.

We will learn to get back to natural movements and experience what ‘core’ really means. \n\n\nUnderstanding “Core” has been a tricky subject over the last 5 – 10 years in the yoga world. For a long time it has been thought of as the abdominal muscles\, however\, through understanding the body and its design\, research has shown that working muscles and body parts in isolation isn’t really a smart system for a structure that is based in tensegrity (multidirectional support) \nWe have inherent strength and stability within our structure as moving human beings. \nOur design is to move\, travel on foot over long distances\, climb trees\, crawl on the ground and un-even surfaces. But we have lost that connection due to being in environments that are linear in structure for our safety. \nWhat to expect\nThis workshop is about getting back to our natural movements\, integrating the body as whole and playing with the power our ancestors used. You’ll learn to “gorilla”\, be a “tiger”\, and a “lizard”. We will play with lots of natural movement and find out what “core” really means and access an overall strength and relationship to stability that is useful in yoga or any other movement practice. This afternoon will be strong and fun at the same time. \nAll levels welcome! \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:Understanding Fascia and the Moving Body
DESCRIPTION:A 3 hour workshop to help you understand what Fascia is\, why it matters and what are we doing in our asana and movement practices to train it and keep it healthy.\n\n\nThe word fascia has been doing the rounds over the last few years and more people are getting interested in its role in the moving body. You may have heard that it is connective tissue or that it is like a wrapping around the muscles\, but it is far more than that. \nIt is only recently that we’ve understood how all of the systems of the body\, muscles\, bones\, cardio vascular\, nervous system\, et al\, are contained in the fascial network that not only frees or limits our movement depending on various factors. It is also the superconductor of information throughout the body via the neural network embedded within its fluid like webbing. Being the only system in the body that is connected to every other system and therefore our most important one. \nOur stress levels\, our habits of moving or lack of moving\, our sleep patterns\, immune system and more are all revealed in our fascial network. Everything is held and processed at a fascial level. \nDuring this workshop we will cover the following\n\nWhat is fascia\, what is it made of and how does it behave in movement and stillness.\nWhy it is important to maintain elasticity in the connective tissue – stretching vs. removing resistance.\nWhy we need to work with integrated movement instead of isolated movement.\nHow the nervous system processes information via the fascial network\nHow releasing the locked up energy (prana) within the connective tissue and the joints is essential for a asana practice\n\nBookings and Inquiries\nContact Waimea yoga \nDate and time\nSunday 3rd November from 12:00 to 3:00 \nPrice\n$35.00 \n($30 for Waimea Yoga Teachers and graduates of Waimea Yoga Trainings) \nRegister Here
